At Frutality, we’ve just completed the Sustainable Suppliers training program, an initiative led by the United Nations Global Compact, together with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment and the ICO Foundation, and backed by some of the large companies we serve every day.
The program trains suppliers of large corporations in the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, covering areas such as human rights, labor standards, the environment, and the fight against corruption. Completing it and earning the certificate that confirms it proves that the path we’ve been on for years is the right one.
Why this certification matters for Frutality
We’ve always said we’re a fresh company aligned with our clients’ values, and that we prove it with real actions. This program helps us organize, measure, and keep improving everything that’s already part of our day-to-day:
- A 1.2% shrinkage rate versus the 10% sector average, as part of our zero-waste commitment.
- The ISO 14064/1 certification, which validates the control of our carbon footprint.
- Working with local farmers under a fair-pricing policy, 100% European fruit, and optimized routes that reduce energy use.
- Certified-wood display crates and the reuse of the packaging that reaches us from the field.
- Social agreements with the Adecco Foundation and Grupo SIFU, plus donations to food banks and NGOs.
Caring for people: labor standards and workplace equality
Frutality’s commitment goes beyond the environmental side. Labor standards are another pillar of the UN Global Compact, and it’s an area where the company stands out within its sector. From day one, it has maintained a people-first policy built on equal pay, gender balance in leadership roles, generational and cultural diversity, a firm commitment to workplace safety, genuine work-life balance measures—such as remote work and flexible hours—and a focus on stable, quality employment.
What it means for companies seeking a sustainable supply chain
More and more companies need a sustainable, traceable supply chain to comply with regulations like the CSRD and the upcoming CSDDD.
