Frutality has become a Certified B Corporation™, the certification awarded by B Lab™ to companies that demonstrate a verified positive impact on people and the planet. It’s not a self-awarded title: it’s an external assessment that measures, point by point, whether what we say we do is really what we do.
In this article, we’ll walk you through exactly what the B Corp™ certification is, what it evaluates, how it’s earned, and what it means, in very practical terms, for the companies that already trust us to bring fresh fruit and healthy snacks to their office.

- For companies that work with Frutality, it means having third-party auditable data for their own sustainability reporting, instead of relying solely on what we tell them.
What is B Corp certification?
B Corp™ certification (Certified B Corporation™) is a seal awarded by B Lab™, an international nonprofit organization, to companies that demonstrate verified performance across five areas of impact: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
The difference from a label a company simply gives itself is that B Corp™ certification requires passing an external assessment (the B Impact Assessment) and, on top of that, writing the legal commitment to all of its stakeholders (not just shareholders) into the company’s own bylaws. Today, the B Corp™ community includes more than 11,000 companies across more than 100 countries and 160 industries, over 300 of them in Spain, alongside companies like Patagonia, Triodos Bank, Camper, and Ecoalf.
Why does it matter to be a B Corp company?
Being a B Corp™ company matters for two reasons: one internal, one external.
Internally, it forces continuous measurement and improvement of things many companies only pay lip service to. The certification isn’t earned once and forgotten: it has to be recertified every three years, against increasingly demanding standards.
Externally, it’s a signal verified by an independent third party, not a claim made by the company itself. And that carries more and more weight in purchasing decisions, especially among HR, Procurement, and CSR departments, which need to justify their supplier decisions with data, not just promises. If you’re approaching this from the HR angle, you can dig deeper in our complete guide to employee wellbeing for HR teams (link pending an English version), where we cover why wellbeing, and who backs it, has become a strategic argument.
The five areas B Lab™ evaluates
The B Impact Assessment, the evaluation B Lab™ uses to measure every candidate company, is organized into five areas. Here’s what it looks at in each one, and how we live it at Frutality.
Governance
Evaluates a company’s mission, ethics, and transparency: whether its social purpose is built into its decision-making and bylaws, not just its messaging.
Workers
Measures how a company treats its team: compensation, benefits, training, safety, and culture. At Frutality, this translates into equal pay, gender balance in leadership positions, and real work-life balance measures, such as remote work and flexible hours.
Community
Looks at a company’s relationship with suppliers, diversity, inclusion, and local engagement. This is where our agreements with Fundación Adecco and Grupo SIFU come in, along with our donations to food banks and nonprofits.
Environment
Reviews the environmental impact of the operation: energy and water use, waste, and supply chain. It’s the area most supported by our ISO 14064-1 certification, our 1.2% shrinkage rate, and our work with local farmers under fair pricing.
Customers
Assesses whether a company treats its customers ethically and transparently, and whether its product or service creates a positive impact for them. In our case, it shows up in the direct, hands-on relationship our Fruit Managers build, with no middlemen and no fine print.
How B Corp certification is earned
The process is neither quick nor automatic. Here are its main steps.
1. The B Impact Assessment
The company completes a free self-assessment, the B Impact Assessment, which measures its performance across the five areas above. To qualify for certification, it needs to reach a minimum score of 80 out of 200 points.
2. Verification by B Lab™
A B Lab™ team reviews the submitted documentation, cross-checks the answers and, depending on company size, may request interviews or additional documentation. This is the step that turns a self-assessment into a real certification.
3. Legal commitment
The company writes into its bylaws a commitment to consider the impact of its decisions on all of its stakeholders (workers, community, environment, and customers), not just its shareholders.
4. Recertification every three years
The certification isn’t permanent: every three years, the company goes through the process again, against standards that B Lab™ updates and tightens over time.
The commitments that already back Frutality’s B Corp™ certification
B Corp™ certification doesn’t replace our other certifications: it adds to them and puts them in context.
ISO 14064-1: keeping our carbon footprint in check
Certifies that we measure and actively work to reduce our carbon footprint, with optimized delivery routes and 100% European fruit.
Reforestation with Tree-Nation
For every client, we plant a tree with Tree-Nation, a certified initiative that lets us regenerate forests and offset the emissions from our deliveries.
UN Global Compact Sustainable Suppliers Program
We completed this UN Global Compact training program, run alongside ICEX España and Fundación ICO, covering the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
Social commitment: Fundación Adecco and Grupo SIFU
We hold agreements with Fundación Adecco and Grupo SIFU to support the workplace inclusion of people with disabilities and women survivors of gender-based violence.
What it means for the companies that trust Frutality
If your company already works with Frutality (or is considering it), B Corp™ certification has a very practical translation: it gives you third-party verified data for your own sustainability strategy, instead of having to take our word for it.
This matters more every year. Regulations like CSRD and the upcoming CSDDD are pushing sustainability requirements down a company’s entire value chain, suppliers included. Working with a B Corp™-certified office fruit supplier and healthy snacks provider simplifies reporting for your Procurement or CSR department, and reduces the risk of having to justify, without data, why you chose the supplier you chose. The same applies if we’re also managing your full office pantry through Despensing.
Frutality tip
If your company reports on sustainability (a CSR report, a CSRD filing) or simply wants to justify your purchasing decisions internally, ask your suppliers for their certifications in writing, not just statements of intent.
Why does this work? A third-party verified data point carries more weight, in any report or audit, than a well-written paragraph. We hand you ours without you having to chase us for them. 🌱
Frequently asked questions
What does it mean for a company to be a B Corp?
It means the company has passed an external assessment (the B Impact Assessment) that measures its real performance in governance, workers, community, environment, and customers, and that it has written the legal commitment to all of its stakeholders into its bylaws.
Who grants B Corp certification?
It’s granted by B Lab™, an international nonprofit organization that drives the B Corp™ movement and verifies companies that meet its standards.
How long does B Corp certification last, and does it need to be renewed?
Yes. The certification is recertified every three years, through a new assessment that confirms the company has maintained or improved its performance.
How is B Corp different from certifications like ISO 14001?
ISO certifications typically focus on one specific management system (environmental, for example). B Corp™ evaluates the company as a whole (governance, people, community, environment, and customers) and also requires a legal commitment in the bylaws, not just a certified management system.
How does Frutality’s B Corp certification affect companies that are already clients?
It doesn’t change the day-to-day service: the fresh fruit, the healthy snacks, and the relationship with your Fruit Manager stay exactly the same. What changes is that you now have a third-party verified data point for your own sustainability communications or reporting.
Where can I verify that Frutality is a Certified B Corporation?
In B Lab™’s official directory, and on our own certifications and sustainability page.
Fresh fruit and healthy snacks, now backed by B Corp™
At Frutality, we bring fresh seasonal fruit and healthy snacks to your office, with no minimum commitment and paying only for what you consume. Now, with the B Corp™ certification to back it up.
One more step in our commitment to proving sustainability with real actions—and added reassurance for the companies that trust us every day.
At Frutality, we’ve just completed the Sustainable Suppliers training program, an initiative led by the United Nations Global Compact, together with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment and the ICO Foundation, and backed by some of the large companies we serve every day.
The program trains suppliers of large corporations in the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, covering areas such as human rights, labor standards, the environment, and the fight against corruption. Completing it and earning the certificate that confirms it proves that the path we’ve been on for years is the right one.
Why this certification matters for Frutality
We’ve always said we’re a fresh company aligned with our clients’ values, and that we prove it with real actions. This program helps us organize, measure, and keep improving everything that’s already part of our day-to-day:
- A 1.2% shrinkage rate versus the 10% sector average, as part of our zero-waste commitment.
- The ISO 14064/1 certification, which validates the control of our carbon footprint.
- Working with local farmers under a fair-pricing policy, 100% European fruit, and optimized routes that reduce energy use.
- Certified-wood display crates and the reuse of the packaging that reaches us from the field.
- Social agreements with the Adecco Foundation and Grupo SIFU, plus donations to food banks and NGOs.
Caring for people: labor standards and workplace equality
Frutality’s commitment goes beyond the environmental side. Labor standards are another pillar of the UN Global Compact, and it’s an area where the company stands out within its sector. From day one, it has maintained a people-first policy built on equal pay, gender balance in leadership roles, generational and cultural diversity, a firm commitment to workplace safety, genuine work-life balance measures—such as remote work and flexible hours—and a focus on stable, quality employment.
What it means for companies seeking a sustainable supply chain
More and more companies need a sustainable, traceable supply chain to comply with regulations like the CSRD and the upcoming CSDDD. Having a sustainable office-fruit, healthy-snacks, and wellness supplier that’s trained and certified in sustainability makes that job easier: we’re a link that adds to their own CSR and reporting goals, not one that takes away.
A milestone within a broader roadmap
This achievement opens a new stage in which we want to keep professionalizing our commitment and showcasing it. Because caring for teams with fresh, seasonal fruit—and doing it responsibly—is the best way to bring health to people and to their environment. In fact, this milestone has already resonated beyond our own walls: leading Human Resources outlets like RRHH Digital have covered the news, a sign that supplier sustainability is now a central conversation for HR and procurement teams.
Thanks to the entire Frutality team and to the companies that pushed us to take this step. Onward. 🍓
A team with more energy performs better
At Frutality, we bring fresh, seasonal fruit to your office—no lock-in contracts, and you only pay for what your team eats.
At Frutality, we are the partner of the most fruitful companies. And being that means taking care of your team… and also the people who make every delivery possible. That’s why we’ve joined forces with Grupo SIFU: the fresh fruit and healthy snacks that arrive at your office now also generate quality jobs for people with disabilities.
A partnership that turns an everyday gesture, like mid-morning fruit, into real, measurable, certifiable social impact. Wellness and purpose in the same order, without your HR department having to take on any extra paperwork.
Who is Grupo SIFU
Grupo SIFU is Spain’s leading Special Employment Center for socially responsible services. Since 1993, with over 30 years of experience, it has worked toward a single goal: the labor market inclusion of people with disabilities. Today it employs thousands of professionals across the country, most of whom have some type of disability.
We share with them what matters most: the conviction that a company can be profitable and true to its values. We prove it with locally sourced fruit at its peak; they prove it with dignified, stable employment. Together, we prove it with real action.
Wellness with social purpose
Every box of fruit your team receives helps drive the labor market inclusion of people with disabilities through SIFU. But the impact goes beyond the symbolic: it’s tangible, auditable, and useful for your sustainability report.
| What it brings to your company | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Employment with purpose | Every order helps generate stable employment for people with disabilities. |
| Simplified LGD compliance | Contracting with SIFU counts as an alternative measure to the 2% reserved-quota requirement under Spain’s General Disability Law (LGD). |
| Certifiable CSR | Auditable data for your report: people placed in jobs, training hours, and employability outcomes. |
Does your company have 50 or more employees? Then Spanish law requires you to reserve 2% of your workforce for people with disabilities. With this partnership, something as simple as office fruit can help you move toward that requirement, with no parallel projects or added red tape.
And all with the same convenience as always
Social purpose doesn’t add complexity. Quite the opposite: we handle absolutely everything for you.
- ●One single provider, all included. Frutality coordinates the full service: fresh seasonal fruit, healthy snacks, specialty coffee, nuts, and snacks through our Despensing® 360° system, plus coordination with SIFU. No extra paperwork for HR.
- ●Your dedicated Fruit Manager. We select the fruit daily, prioritizing local and domestic produce at its peak, and we handle stock control and restocking.
- ●Zero waste, for real. Our certified Zero Waste system adjusts every order using consumption analytics: your company only pays for what your team actually consumes.
- ●Fixed annual rate, no surprises. Locked-in pricing from day one, with nationwide coverage through local partners.
- ●Up and running in under a week. From signing to first delivery in 48-72 hours, with onboarding guided by your account manager.
Wellness that shows, inside and out
For your team: fresh fruit and healthy snacks every morning, and a well-stocked pantry. For your company: a social impact metric you can share with pride and back up with numbers. And for society: real job opportunities for those who need them most.
Because taking good care also means choosing wisely who you work with. And that, in the end, is what makes a company truly fruitful.
